Who this covers

This policy covers the websites and chat channels I run: preibisch.biz (AI consulting and web services), BC Latin Dance in Chilliwack, British Columbia, BCS Latin Dance in Baja California Sur, Mexico, and the related Facebook and Instagram pages, including the page for Marguerite.

I am Paul Preibisch, also known as Salsa Paul, and I am responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach me at paul@preibisch.biz.

What I collect, and why

Forms on my websites. When you use a contact, event registration, survey, sign-up or comment form, I collect what you type in: your name and email, and sometimes your phone number, a message, the service or event you are interested in, and answers you choose to give. I use it to reply to you, run events and classes, send the reminders you asked for, and publish comments you post.

Live chat. If you use the chat window on one of my sites, I receive your messages, any name or email you give, and basic technical details such as your browser and the page you were on. It goes to a chat inbox that I host myself.

WhatsApp. If you message one of my WhatsApp numbers (Canada or Mexico), I can see your phone number, your WhatsApp profile name and your messages. Those messages are copied into the same self-hosted chat inbox so I can answer them in one place. Replies are sent from my own number.

Facebook Messenger and Instagram. If you message one of my Facebook or Instagram pages, Meta passes me the message and basic profile information such as your name and your account identifier. I use it only to respond to you. Meta's own privacy policy covers what Meta does with your data.

Dance classes and events. For BC Latin Dance and BCS Latin Dance I also collect RSVPs, signed waivers, newsletter sign-ups and ticket or payment details that I need to run a class or event.

Analytics and cookies. My sites use Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited. The BC Latin Dance site also uses a Meta pixel to measure advertising. These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers and collect technical information such as your device, approximate location and pages viewed. Your browser also remembers small preferences on your own device, such as light or dark mode. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Who else handles it

I do not sell your personal information. I use these service providers to run my sites and channels, and they process information on my behalf:

• Vercel, to host the websites
• Google, for Firebase data storage, sign-in and Google Analytics
• Zoho, for email
• Hetzner, for the server that runs my chat inbox
• Meta, for WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and the advertising pixel
• Loops, to send email newsletters
• Square, and Interac e-Transfer through my bank, for payments

I may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. These providers may store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States and Europe.

How long I keep it

I keep personal information only as long as I need it for the reasons above. Chat and WhatsApp conversations stay in my inbox until I delete them or you ask me to. I may keep limited records for longer where the law requires it, for example payment records.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. You can also withdraw your consent to keep contacting you. To do any of this, email paul@preibisch.biz, or follow the steps on the data deletion page. Newsletters include an unsubscribe link in every email. If you would like a photo or video of you removed from a class or event gallery, tell me and I will take care of it.

I handle personal information in line with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's federal privacy law, and I will respond to your request within 30 days.

Security and children

I keep your information on services protected by passwords and access controls, and I run my chat inbox on a server I manage myself. No system is perfectly secure, so I cannot promise absolute security. My sites and channels are not meant for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact
